Regional MoveOn Events

Looking for a way to make sure the McCain-Palin sleaze-o-rama doesn’t derail Barack Obama’s historic candidacy?

With a few hours of your time, you could produce a bunch of new Obama volunteers in Ohio, Michigan, or on one of the other key swing states. Here’s how:

This Sunday, we’re throwing parties where we’ll get together, hop on the phone and call 200,000 swing-state MoveOn member to get ‘em out talking to voters.

And since this week is MoveOn’s 10th birthday, we’ll celebrate with cake and ice cream after we hit the phones.

There’s a party in Saint Louis—can you make it on Sunday?

Here are the details:

Host: David L—fellow MoveOn member
Where: Arbor Road Olivette (in Saint Louis)
When: Sunday, Sep. 21, 2008, at 4:00 PM
Here’s the link to get the full address and RSVP:

If you’re looking to help Obama this weekend, here’s your best chance to do it. These parties are the next step in our massive MoveOn for Obama project—our effort to mobilize huge numbers of MoveOn members to be a part of the Obama campaign. Plus, they’ll be a great opportunity to have fun with other Obama supporters near you.

So sign up to attend a party, bring your cell phone and charger, and drag a few friends along to the event!

Hope you can join us, and thanks again for all you do.

The question of poll numbers

If you’re suffering anxiety from the daily swings in poll numbers, you might want to read a solid piece by Seth Colter at the Huffington Post, which examines the mechanics of polls and poll-taking.

MoveOn Event: Saturday in CWE

No Comments 12 September 2008

We’re on the cusp of something huge: electing a president who can help bring about the change we’ve all been dreaming of for the last eight years.

But if we let John McCain and Sarah Palin‘s lies go unchallenged, this election could slip through our fingers. That’s why we we’re launching an urgent effort to join with the Obama campaign and talk to millions of voters about Barack’s message of hope and change.

MoveOn members are meeting up tomorrow at the Obama office in St. Louis to talk to our neighbors about voting for Barack Obama. Will you come?

What: Talk to voters about Obama
Where: 625 N Euclid Ave, Suite 400 (in St. Louis)
When: Saturday, September 13, 2008 1:00 PM

RSVP to let the campaign know you’re coming:

http://pol.moveon.org/obama/teams/training.html?office_id=11784&id=13813-10151460-.1FO2nx&t=4

Watching the talking heads on TV endlessly repeating false charges about lipstick and patriotism, it’s easy to feel powerless about the election. But the race is still close, and there are over 3.5 million MoveOn members. If each one of us talks to ten or twenty voters, that could make all the difference.

That’s why we’ve launched MoveOn for Obama, our big plan to boost Obama’s grassroots campaign with thousands of new volunteers.

Don’t worry if you’ve never volunteered for a campaign before. It’s easy to do, and there’ll be staff and volunteer leaders there to walk you through everything you need to know and answer any questions you might have.

You might be knocking on doors, making phone calls, or registering new voters. So wear comfortable shoes and plan to dedicate a few hours to making a big difference.

Even with the polls so close, I have every confidence we can win—but only if each of us stands up to do our part. Click here to RSVP:

Thanks for all you do.

Statement from the Obama and Clinton Press Offices

No Comments 14 August 2008

August 14, 2008

Since June, Senators Obama and Clinton have been working together to ensure a Democratic victory this November.  They are both committed to winning back the White House and to to ensuring that the voices of all 35 million people who participated in this historic primary election are respected and heard in Denver.  To honor and celebrate these voices and votes, both Senator Obama’s and Senator Clinton’s names will be placed in nomination.

“I am convinced that honoring Senator Clinton’s historic campaign in this way will help us celebrate this defining moment in our history and bring the party together in a strong united fashion,” said Senator Barack Obama.

Senator Obama’s campaign encouraged Senator Clinton’s name to be placed in nomination as a show of unity and in recognition of the historic race she ran and the fact that she was the first woman to compete in all of our nation’s primary contests.

“With every voice heard and the Party strongly united, we will elect Senator Obama President of the United States and put our nation on the path to peace and prosperity once again,” said Senator Hillary Clinton.

Senator Obama and Senator Clinton are looking forward to a convention unified behind Barack Obama as the Party’s nominee and to victory this fall for America.
