The August 5, 2008 Primary Election is only six days away!!!

Remember, polls will be open on August 5, 2008 from 6 A.M. until 7 P.M.  All registered voters in line at 7 P.M. will have the opportunity to vote.  We would like to remind you that the busiest times at the polls are between 6:00 A.M. and 9:00 A.M. (early morning rush); between 11:00 A.M. and 2:00 P.M. (lunch hour), and between 5:00 P.M. and 7:00 P.M (after work rush).  Thereforeto avoid lines, please encourage voters to vote between the hours of 9:00 A.M. – 11:00 a.m. as well as between the hours of 2:00 P.M. – 5:00 P.M.

The last day to request an absentee ballot by mail is today!!  Please print out the application, which can be found on the internet at http://www.stlelections.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=84-primary-absentee-application&catid=38-subpages&Itemid=61, and fax the application to 314-622-3378.  The application must be received in our office by 5:00 P.M. today.  The last date to vote an absentee ballot in person is Monday, August 4, 2008.  The absentee office will be open every weekday until the election from 8 A.M. – 5 P.M. and on Saturday, August 2, 2008 from 8 A.M. – no earlier than 3 P.M.

February 28 St. Louis City Caucus Locations

After a very successful primary on February 5th (record turn out for a presidential primary) we now move to the process of selecting delegates to Congressional District Caucuses, the Missouri State Democratic Convention and ultimately the Democratic National Convention in Denver.

If you are interested in being a delegate you must attend your local ward caucus to be held on February 28th at 7:30.  The locations of these caucuses are posted at www.missouridems.org Please check back here at www.citydems.org for updates.

In what many called a turning point in the contest for the Presidential nomination Missouri Democrats delivered the majority of their votes to Illinois Senator Barack Obama.  Leading the State was the City of St. Louis giving Obama over 70% of the votes cast in the City.  Adding to those numbers, Barack Obama received nearly 62% of the Democratic vote in St. Louis County.

Perhaps the best news for CityDems from February 5th was that nearly 235,000 more Democrats than Republicans voted in the Missouri Primary
